Fundraiser for Scotts International squash for 2012

Hi All
Attached is Scotts achievements for 2011. As you will see he has been busy following his dream of being number1 in the world.

His success has been due to the awesome support of many friends, family and fellow Squash players throughout NZ.

In 2012 Scott plans to attend seven internationals PLUS eight national tournaments. See attached for detail

We know there are many people out there that love and support Scott. Thank you all

We will be running a lotto bonus ball draw every Saturday for 40 weeks, from 28 January 2012 until 27 October 2012.

Whoever has the bonus ball number each week will win $160

The investment is $8 per number per week. $320 for all 40 weekly draws per number taken.

Payment can be made to the account details in the attached document.

$320 or two payments of $160 or you may wish to make regular fortnightly internet payments of $16 to the account.

Junior program coming to an end

Hi All

The last Monday night junior club night is next Monday. We hope you have enjoyed the season training.

We will be running a junior league over the next few months, so if you are interested in playing let matey know and the first league will be up after the MPK club champs.

A big thanks to our Monday night junior program sponsors Pub Charity. They have enabled us to provide a comprehensive junior coaching program. Big thanks to Nick Mita, Gary Nelson, Terry Hession, Brent Ryan and Tamsyn Leevey for their time and dedication to the junior program.

Having the right equipment to provide such a program has been invaluable to the Mitchell park juniors

A big thanks also to our Advanced junior program sponsors NZCT.They have enabled us to provide a junior coaching program for our Elite juniors and high performing Juniors. Big thanks to Nick Mita, and Jason Canning for their time and dedication to the advanced junior program.

Our high performance Juniors are high on our Wellington rankings and are tipped to bring home 4 titles for Wellington at the NZ Nationals next week.

The Junior awards will be held along side the Senior awards night some time soon, so keep your eye out for the date for that.

HI All

Well the cold weather has taken its toll on attendance this week with only a hand full of keen junior squashies taking to the courts. Hope to see more of you next week!

JUNIOR INTERCLUB

The second round of Junior interclub is under way with 16 of our youngsters taking part. We are very short on girls for Junior interclub, so if your young girl/s are keen to join in on the last 4 weeks, let Matey know and he will get that sorted.

JUNIOR CLUB CHAMPS

This years’ junior club champs will be held on the 2nd and 3rd of September. All those juniors who would like to enter the Junior club champs, please put your name on the sheet outside court 2 or email Matey on mateyandsri@clear.net.nz . Entries will close on 1 September 5.00pm at the latest. Draws will be posted on the Junior website by 6.00pm.

OTHER JUNIOR ACTIVITES

The Junior convenors would like to organise competitions between other Wellington junior clubs. This is likely to happen on a Friday night. If you would be keen to be part of that please let one of our junior convenors know. We are first looking to see how much interest there is before we do anything. You can contact matey on mateyandsri@clear.net.nz Albert on ab.lim@xtra.co.nz or Brent on brent.ryan@paradise.net.nz if you and or your child is interested.

CONGRATULATIONS

On behalf of all the juniors and seniors, we would like to say well done to Rebecca Barnett for her performance at the World Girls Junior champs in Boston. Rebecca did very well in her individual games and the NZ girls team came 7th overall. This is good for Squash and good for Mitchell park. Well done Beckie!

There are a number of our juniors playing in the superchamp nationals.Well done young fellas. They are running all sorts of raffles to help fun their trips so please help support if you are asked.

Wellington Junior Open - J grade tournie and more....

HI All

The second junior night of 2011 went off with a bang with lots more juniors pulling out their cobweb covered rackets to take the plunge back into the squash season.

Welcome back to you all.

We also had a few more new juniors come along, welcome to all those new juniors.

We are still assessing juniors to see where they best fit for final groupings.

JUNIOR INTERCLUB

For those who put their name down for interclub, I will contact you later in the month to confirm arrangements for your competition. Those who missed out can contact me and I will see if you can still be entered in a team.

WELLINGTON JUNIOR OPEN

We now have over 112 entries for this years Wellington junior open. Entries close on Friday at 5.00pm. We will have a pot luck dinner on the Saturday night followed by an outing to Laser strike in Petone.

We are still looking for 4 @ B grade boys, 4 @ D1 to C1 boys, 2 @ E grade boys, 3 @ J5 girls, 3 @ J4 girls and 3 @ J2 girls.

Latest news from the Junior convenors

Junior program begins - Good results for Mitchell park juniors...and more

This week marked the beginning of our Junior program for 2011. It was good to see a few new faces and a few of the regulars. Still short a few faces but that is to be expected on our first day.

We will use the next few weeks to guage expected numbers for the rest of this term so don't forget to put it in your diary for every School week Monday.

We are also short on under 7s so if you have a young one that might enjoy fun games with others of the same age, please feel free to bring them along from 4.45 to 5.30pm each school week monday at no cost. We have club rackets if required.

Those junior members from last year, it's time to get the racket out of the closet and get yourself down to Monday night coaching.


J GRADE SERIES

Just a reminder that the Fraser Park J grade tournament is being held at Fraser Park squash club on Sunday 8th May if you wish to enter please email Phil Steere on Phil.Steere@ird.govt.nz or phil.liai@xtra.co.nz to enter. You will need to get that done by Thursday night at latest. This is the final for the Hutt series.

The Mana J grade tournament is is also being held at Mana on Sunday 15th May, if you wish to enter please email Chris Southerwood on smythesfamily@xtra.co.nz to enter. You will need to get that done by Thursday the 12th at the latest.


WELLINGTON JUNIOR OPEN 2011

This year Mitchell Park squash club is hosting the Wellington Junior open. If you haven't entered please let Matey know by the 13th May 2011 on mateyandsri@clear.net.nz. NO late entries will be taken due to the large numbers expected. We have 90+ entries already.

JUNIOR INTER CLUB

Junior interclub is a good way to meet new kids and get some practice at using what you learn at Junior night. The following dates are Junior interclub fixtures for 2011.

Junior interclub will be run on the following dates:

29th of May - 12th of June - 19th of June - 26th of June - 17th of July - 31st of July

Only 6 dates in all.

It is lots of fun and is played from 8.39 to mid day, at latest. Let Matey know if you wish to join junior interclub this year. mateyandsri@clear.net.nz

I will be submitting teams on Thursday night 5pm so I need to know before that.


MITCHELL PARK JUNIORS DO WELL IN AUSTRALIA

Scott Galloway, Jonny Barnett and Rebecca Barnett all went to Australia during the school holidays to compete in the Australian Junior series. There were two tournaments back to back.

The first was the Anthony Ricketts Classic. All three of our juniors did very well. Scott won the U13s title, Rebecca won the U17s title and Jonny was runner up in the 17s

The second was the Michelle Martin Classic where all three played up an age group to develope their game. Scott Galloway won the U15s, Rebecca came 9th in the U19s and Jonny came 5th in the U19s

We can be very proud of these three youngsters who are performing at a very high level nationally.

Mitchell Park host 2011 Wellington Junior open

Mitchell Park will host the Wellington Junior open for a 4th time on 20 to 22 May 2011.

Posters have been sent out and a steady flow of entries are coming in.

This year is a selection tournament for the NZ girls elite team heading for Boston for the Junior world champs, which were moved from Egypt as a result of the political turmoil Egypt faces at the moment.

Entries can be emailed to mateyandsri@clear.net.nz along with Name, grading points and Player code.

The draws and first play times will be posted on this website by 15th May 2011.

Mitchell park juniors set to break more records this year

Hi All

This year is set to be a year that Mitchell Park Juniors can set district records in senior inter-club, tournaments and National Championships.

Mitchell Park offers squash for all levels, from novice to the elite.

Juniors are offered coaching from paid coaches on a Monday night.

The Mitchell Park Junior programs will start on the first Monday of second term - 2 May 2011

Novice junior members are coached from 4.45pm to 5.30.

More experienced junior members are coached from 5.30pm to 6.30pm and...

The elite squads are coached from 6.30pm to 7.45 pm

We have qualified coaches who adapt their coaching to suit the needs of each group. Private coaching is available on request.

Pre-season training will start on the 14th March from 5.30 to 7.00pm. Bring your running shoes and water bottles and be prepared to do the Beep test.
